Abstract:The corrosion behavior of 2507 duplex stainless steel in the cooling water of different Cl- content was investigated using electrochemical measurement, weight loss, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum (EDS). The results showed that 2507 duplex SS happened slight corrosion, and have shown a good passivation properties and corrosion resistance in cooling water system under the action of the different content of Cl- . With the increase of Cl- content, corrosion rate was the first increase and then decrease, but the number tendency of corrosion spot was increase-decrease-increase. When the content was 237 mg/L, the corrosion rate reached maximum, but the number of corrosion spot was minimum. 2507 duplex SS didn’t happen pitting corrosion pit after corrosion for 60 days in the cooling water of different Cl- content. The pitting potential (Epit) reached 1. 2 V.
