Abstract:Pitting corrosion is the main localized corrosion of carbon steel, which often makes carbon steel failure. Based on the stochastic theory and growth mechanism of pitting corrosion, the stochastic model of pit depth and corrosion growth rate of carbon steel is established, and the inhomogeneous fluctuations of material and corrosive environment are considered in this model. The theoretical curves of pit depth and corrosion growth rate of Q235 steel in marine industry atmosphere are obtained by using this model, which present the trend of pit depth and corrosion growth rate versus time, and the theoretical results are agreement with the experimental data. With the non- equilibrium statistical theory, the probability density function of pitting corrosion of Q235 steel is derived by solving Fock- Plank Equation. Then the most probable pit depth in different corrosion time ranges and the most probable corrosion time range of different pit depths are deduced.
