Effect of Co on microstructure and properties of Ni- Mn- Sn Heusler thermoelectric alloy

Abstract:Based on the excellent properties of Heusler type alloy, the Ni50-xCoxMn39Sn11 (x=0, 2, 4, 6) of Co element doping are prepared by using mechanical ball milling, vacuum melting and heat treatment. The optical microscope and energy spectrometer are used to characterize the structure of the block specimen, and the laser thermal conductivity meter and thermoelectric parameter test system are used to test thermoelectric properties of samples. The influence of Co doping on the microstructure and thermoelectric properties of Ni- based Heusler alloys at different temperatures is studied. The results showed that the amount of Co doping can improve thermoelectric properties of material, makes the conductivity add with the increase of the doping amount. The samples after the doping thermoelectric optimal value increases, and x=6 sample at 700K for maximum thermal power optimal value.
