Abstract:Ti55511 titanium alloy ingot were prepared by using 1350KW electron beam cold hearth melting (EB) furnace, and the homogeneity of the chemical composition of the ingot under different melting process parameters was analyzed.According to the volatilization characteristics of the alloy elements in the smelting process, the mathematical model of saturated vapor pressure and volatilization law of various elements in EB melting process of Ti55511 titanium alloy was established by using Langmuir law. And the relevant thermodynamic parameters were verified according to the actual volatilization rate. The results showed that the actual volatilization rate of Al and Cr reaches 12.63% and 30.77% respectively during EB furnace melting process of Ti55511 titanium alloy. The volatilization of Cr is seriously, and the actual volatilization rate is in good agreement with the volatilization model. The optimum melting speed of the 1350KW electron beam cooling hearth melting (EB) furnace is 0.969×10-4 m/s (178.08 Kg/h). Under this process condition, the chemical composition of the ingot has good uniformity and fully meets the requirements of GB/T 3620.1-2016.
