Direct measurement of the adiabatic temperature change in Gd3Al2-xGax

Abstract:Gd3Al2-xGax(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3)alloys were prepared in a high-frequency floating furnace without heat treatment. The Structure and microstructure of alloys was measured by XRD and SEM; the adiabatic temperature was measured by direct measurement of magnetocaloric effect instrument under magnetic field change of 1.5 T. The results show that the structure of alloys has not changed; the maximum adiabatic temperature change increases; the Curie temperature changes a little when a small amount of Ga substitutes for Al.
