Abstract:17. 82 mm Zirc-4 intermediate tubes with 4 different wall thickness were pilgered to 9. 53 mm×0. 60 mm final tubes on KPW25LC cold pilger machine with same pilger parameters. Tubes were then annealed in the same run in the hot wall furnace. Hydride orientation was tested after annealed and straightening. It proves that Q value during cold pilger reduction is crucial to the hydride orientation of the final tubes. A relation between the Q value and the hydride orientation was analyzed to determine the contributors to the hydride orientation and process control actions.
