Abstract:Capacity fade mechanisms of LiFePO4/graphite cells after the use of electric vehicle were studied. The charactistics of structure and morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction spectrometer (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), and Raman spectrometer. The results showed that capacity fading of lithium-ion cells can be attributed primarily to the lithium inventory loss. The fade of electrode materials, the decomposing of electrolyte, and the SEI destruction and growth on graphite anode surface were found to the main cause for the lithium inventory loss.
