Abstract:The structure and properties required for high-speed steel can be well matched with intrinsic advantages
of powder metallurgy, which makes the proportion of powder metallurgy high-speed steel (PM HSS) output steadi‐
ly increase and PM HSS gradually occupy the high-end market of high-speed steel. This paper focused on the de‐
velopment process of three generation of PM HSS raw material powder, and analyzed the research status of main
preparation technology of powder metallurgy high-speed steel. The comparation between advantages and disadvan‐
tages of these technologies was studied in order to select the appropriate powder metallurgy process according to
actual needs. At the same time, the relevant properties of various types of powder metallurgy high-speed steel sam‐
ples were summarized, and the development strategy direction of high-performance powder metallurgy high-speed
steel was pointed out.
